Session 5: Permeable Pavement – Improvements in Technology Make This a Good Choice Today for Stormwater Management and LEED Projects
Date & Time
Wednesday, April 27, 2022, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Description
Just a few years ago, permeable pavement – which allows water to flow through it – was getting some adverse reviews as being high maintenance. However, improvements to the technology have solved this problem, and today permeable pavement is being embraced by many California facilities that are eager to manage their stormwater, as well as those that are embarking on LEED green building certification projects. This session will describe what permeable pavement is, where it is suited for use, and installation considerations, such as soil conditions and water table. Also details on stormwater management benefits, and how permeable pavement fits into LEED certification, and with other water-saving grounds management practices such as landscaping with natural vegetation.
