1:00 PM - 2:00 PMSession 07: Key Job Skills for Effective Facilities Managers

In today's fast-paced work environments, every facilities manager encounters significant challenges and opportunities. Technology has certainly streamlined many processes, yet without a compelling vision, progress can be stifled. This presentation will focus on a multi-part strategy: leadership development, honing strategic and business management skills, and understanding your industry. The session will provide valuable information to help you advance your facilities career.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PMSession 08: How to Troubleshoot Pavement Defects and Achieve the Most Effective Repairs

This presentation will provide facility managers with the tools to understand pavement defects and repair options related specifically to asphalt concrete. The speaker will describe how to perform a simple site review and how to determine the best methods for tackling pavement repair for your facility. He will also discuss how to budget for your short- and long-term expenditures, and will explain the best time of year to perform repairs to your facility in order to obtain the best quality project at the most competitive value.

2:10 PM - 2:40 PMEarthquake-Resilient Hospitals for the Future – Facilities Lessons LearnedFacilities managers who work in companies located on the West Coast are always cognizant of earthquake risks and want to ensure they are prepared. And of all facility types, possibly hospitals are those where emergency preparedness is the most vital. This extremely interesting film, produced by University of California Television, shows a first-of-its-kind structural test conducted at UC San Diego as a five-story mockup of a hospital, including a surgical suite, is subjected to dramatic earthquakes and fire testing in order to better understand how the many complex systems within hospital buildings perform after earthquakes. Teaming up with the California Seismic Safety Commission, this UCSD-TV documentary explores the history of seismic safety for California's hospital infrastructure, and what is being done to secure its future. This film will be of value to facilities engineers who work in all types of West Coast facilities – not just hospitals – since the “lessons learned” from this important testing project will give ideas of what they need to examine regarding their own emergency preparedness.

8:50 AM - 9:50 AMSession 09: Why, When and How You Would Need an Air System Audit

A detailed compressed air system audit examines the function and performance of a compressed air system with data collection as a core feature. This session will describe problems you can solve with an air audit, which sensors you need, and details on data analysis. Learn what you need to know to save energy and resolve problems in your compressed air system.

8:50 AM - 9:50 AMSession 10: Optimizing Building Performance and Preventing Costly Issues with AI-Driven Drone Inspections

Discover how drone technology is transforming facility management in this session. Learn how AI-powered inspections using 3D mapping, high-resolution images, and thermal imaging can help you identify building issues early. This proactive approach not only enhances tenant satisfaction but also reduces costly insurance claims and protects your investments. Join this presentation to see how drones can streamline your maintenance processes and safeguard your facilities.

10:00 AM - 11:00 AMSession 11: Electricity Resilience Risk Management Strategies – a Look at Beverly Hills’ Impressive Plan
